  • How do I get started on the Spec Tool?

    Simply click the “Sign Up – Free” button located on the landing page. Or if you already have an account, click “Login” in the top right corner.
    When you sign up make sure you are entering a valid email address. If you don’t you will not receive the registration email required to finish set up.

  • How do I download the software?

    There is no software! ATS Spec Solutions is an online specification information system. All you need is an internet connection (and of course to sign up for a free account). We continuously strive to keep our website well maintained and updated to best serve our users.

  • What browsers do you support?

    For best performance, ATS recommends that the ATS Spec Solutions be accessed through the latest versions of:

    • Google Chrome
    • Firefox

    To update your current web browser, please contact your company’s system administrator.

  • How can I get the most up-to-date version of the system?

    ATS Spec Solutions is always available to our users in its latest version.

  • Why haven’t I received my login credentials?

    Check your spam or junk mail folders for an email from info@atsspec.com with the subject line “ATS Spec Tool | Registration Email”

    Make sure to move the email out of the junk folder and into your primary inbox. Please also add info@atsspec.com to your address book. These actions will teach your inbox to receive messages from ATS in the future. 

     If the email isn’t found in your junk or spam folder, you may have an email security software or firewall that quarantined the email before it reached your inbox.

    • Provide your IT administrator with the from address and the subject line of the email so that they can check your email server. This information will help your IT administrator locate the email and investigate why it was quarantined.

     

    To prevent this from happening in the future, please have your IT administrator add our sending IP addresses to your server’s allowlist. Please email info@atsspec.com for a current list of IP addresses.

  • I’m having trouble logging in

    Have you authenticated your account? You should have received an email after signing up that contains an authentication link.

    If you have not received the email please read Why haven’t I received my login credentials?

    If you have received the email and still cannot log in, please click on the Live Chat found on the homepage or visit the Contact US to find a Regional Manager for your market

  • How is ATS free to the designer? Who pays for ATS’ services?

    ATS’ services are free to engineers, architects and interior designers through the support of leading manufacturers including Watts Water Technologies, A.O. Smith, Sloan and others. For a complete list of our sponsors, please see our sponsors summary page.

  • What categories does ATS have?

    ATS Spec Solutions offers a wide range of building categories including:

  • How liable is ATS with their specs?

    ATS provides product selections and schedules as a service at no cost. By accepting and utilizing the documents and information provided by ATS, the user assumes responsibility for review and approval of the content as used in a construction or design project.  

    The materials and information generated by ATS Spec Solutions are provided to the user on an “as is” basis and use are entirely at the user’s own risk. Specifications could contain material or information that is not accurate, complete, reliable, current or error-free. The user assumes all risk for any reliance placed on ATS Spec Solutions and the information contained therein. Allied Technical Solutions. (“ATS”) shall not be responsible or liable for any damages of any nature whatsoever that may result from the user’s use of, or inability to use, the information generated by ATS Spec Solutions. ATS is not responsible for any liability, of whatsoever nature, directly or indirectly, resulting from the use, misuse or misinterpretation of any content or service provided by ATS Spec Solutions.

    ATS makes no covenants, warranties, representations, or guarantees, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, any warranty for information, content, services, or goods associated and/or contained by ATS Spec Solutions.   • I can’t find the product I’m looking for

    Before you submit a request to add a product  make sure there is no space following the model number you are searching in the tool’s quick search.  If the issue is urgent and requires immediate attention please click on the Live Chat and an agent will work on adding the product to ATS Spec Tool. ATS will attempt to have it on our system within two to three business days.

  • How do I access brands that do not sponsors ATS’ systems?

    Unfortunately, brands that do not support or sponsor ATS will not be accessible through our platforms. ATS recommends that designers specify a product that is similar or equal in the interim, and include what they would like to change it to in the notes area of the specification. Please note that none of our print formats are “locked.” Specifiers have the freedom to update their packages with their desired brands however they like.

    ATS strives to offer specification systems that save designers time. If you have a brand in mind that you would like ATS to consider, please email us to let us know.

  • When will you have more divisions (of the spec) available?

    ATS offers a range of products that are specified in division 8, 10 and 22. We strive to offer specification systems that save designers time. If you have a brand in mind that you would like ATS to consider, please email us to let us know.

  • What’s the difference between a Spec and Project?

    Creating a Spec is the fastest way to access product configurators and downloading customized specifications.  However creating a project gives a user much more access to features of ATS Spec Tool.

    We recommend creating a project on the tool early in the schematic and design development stage of a project.

  • How do I submit an email spec request?

    If you are logged into ATS Spec Tool click on Request a Build from the Menu Bar on the left hand side.

    Log into a Service Desk Account and fill out the Request a Spec Form. 

    Don’t forget to provide the products you need or the schematic drawings you are working with, what download format you want and  when you need the spec request back by.

  • Are you able to provide specs based on Revit model?

  • What is and how to use Service Desk?

    Service Desk is an online portal that will allow you to submit, manage, and track all your spec requests.

  • How do I set up an account in Service Desk?

    Once you have landed on ATS Service Desk you will be asked to Log in or Sign up. If you do not have an account click on Sign Up. 

    From here you will be asked to provide your email address and Click Send Link.

    Check your email to validate your account to ATS Service Desk.

    Please note that your ATS Service Desk account is not linked with the ATS Spec Tool platform. We recommend setting up both accounts with the same password for ease of login.

  • Will you make revisions on specifications?

    Yes, please read  How do I submit an email spec request? to submit a request for revisions. If you already have a project created on our system, please provide your project name and the specific revisions you would like to make.

  • How do I find a request I submitted in Service Desk?

    After you have logged into ATS Service Desk Click on Request on the top right hand corner. 

    This will give you the list of all the requests raised (open and closed). The name or summary of the request, the status and the requester will also be listed.
    This is what each status means.

    1. Initial Request – ATS has received your request and has not yet assigned a Specification Specialist to work on your request.
    2. Work in Progress- A Specification Specialist has started your project and it is expected to be completed by the timeline you requested
    3. Waiting on Manufacturer- There was something in your request that required ATS to work directly with the engineering team from the specific manufacturer. 
    4. Waiting on Customer- A Specification Specialist is waiting on more information from you to complete your request.
      • Please make sure to click on the ticket number and add a comment to the ticket so that the agent is able to complete your request.

    For a deeper understanding of everything that has been completed on the request, click on the “Reference Number” or “Summary Name”. This will take you to the ATS Service Desk page for that specific request and you will find the ATS agent working on the request, the status and all of the communication regarding this request.

    If you need to communicate with the ATS agent regarding your request, comment on your request using the comments at the bottom of the page

  • How do I share my ATS request with my colleagues or my client?

    Click on the “+ Share” button on your ATS Service Desk request page and type in their email. Click on “Select to Invite” under the email you typed in. Your recipient will receive an invitation to the ATS Service Desk.

  • How does the ATS Spec system share documents between Architects and Engineers

    ATS Spec Solutions offers many formats for your project which can be downloaded and sent to your client or collaborator. 

    • Submittals (PDF)
    • Product Brochures (PDF)
    • Long Spec (Word)
    • Short Spec (Word)
    • Schedules (Excel)
    • Manufacturer Spec Sheets (PDF)
    • Revit Families (Revit)
    • CSI Master Format (Word)

    You can also invite your client or collaborator to view the project from right within the ATS Spec Tool by adding them as a collaborator. When creating a project, enter your recipient’s email address and an email will be sent to them to sign in with an existing ATS Spec Tool account or to sign up for an account to view your project.

  • How to find out if I am an Account Admin

    Log into ATS Spec Tool at buildyourspechere.com

    Click on the gear icon . From the menu, click on “Team Organization Settings”.

    Search for your name and see if your Role Type is Firm Admin or Office Admin. This will give you the ability to add or delete users from the ATS Spec Tool account for your organization. If there needs to be a change to the administrator please email info@atsspec.com or chat with someone on Live Chat .

  • How do I add users to the same firm? (My colleague in my office to the ATS Tool?)

    Only the administrator for your account has the ability to add new users. Please read How do I know if I am my firm’s Account Admin? to see if you are an account administrator. 

    Click on the gear icon . From the menu, click on “Team Organization Settings”.
    Click on the “+” button and click on “Add new user”

    Fill in the new user’s information and click “Save”.
    Now your colleague will be able to go to the log-in page and click “Forget password?”. They will need to enter their email and click “Reset Password”

  • How do I add my logo to the download formats?

    Only administrators to your account have the ability to upload a logo to your company account. To find out if you have administrator permissions read How do I know if I am my firm’s Account Admin?

    Click on the gear icon . From the menu, click on “Team Organization Settings”.

    Click on the pencil icon next to the office you wish to update the logo for.  A side window will appear. Click on “Browse File” and choose an image from your computer. Click “Open”. Once uploaded, click “Save” at the bottom of the window.

    When it saves correctly, the logo will appear next to your company name and be included in all the download formats that include a cover page such as Submittal, Product Brochure and Manufacturers Spec Sheet.

  • How do I report an issue? I found a bug, how do I report it?

    When you are logged into ATS Spec Tool click “Report an Issue” on the menu bar on the left side of the screen. 

    This will take you to the ATS Service Desk Portal 

    Please be as descriptive as possible of the issue you are experiencing. Please include screenshots of what you are experiencing and what you are expecting to see.

    An ATS representative will take a look at your issue and be in contact with you. Depending on the issue please be aware the fix may take up to a few weeks to complete. If the issue is urgent and requires immediate attention please click on the Live Chat and chat with an ATS representative.

  • What do you need from us to get started?

    To get started, simply create a free account here. Please check your inbox for our validation email. This will allow you to set your password to start building specifications with ATS Spec Solutions!

    From here, simply:

    1. Log onto buildyourspechere.com All of ATS’ tools and services are free-to-use for the design community.
    2. Enter project information: ATS automatically determines code-compliant and compatible product combinations, based on project requirements and geographic location.
    3. Select a room and build your specification: ATS continues to expand its service offerings, to include new product categories. This allows for greater flexibility and a wider selection of equipment.
    4. Save, download, and print: 10+ different formats to choose from. No additional text editing is required!

  • How come I didn’t receive my registration email after signing up?

    Check your spam, junk or email security quarantine folders for filtered emails with the subject line ATS Spec Tool | Registration Email. This email will go to the email address you signed up with.
