Announcing the winners of The Great Spec Race!
After thousands of entries and a hundred contestants, Allied Technical Services Inc. (ATS) is proud to announce the winners The Great Spec Race – US Edition, and The Great Spec Race Canadian Edition. The 45 day contest, which concluded October 31st, 2012, challenged all Engineers, Architects, and Interior Designers across North America to be the fastest to accurately build and submit 1 of 10 randomly assigned Plumbing Specifications Test Projects. After reviewing the contest entries, the results are in! Congratulations go out to the Grand Prize Winners, Andrew Velleca and Ikbal Vahid for submitting their Test Projects with 100% accuracy and the fastest completion time in the US and Canada respectively.

THE GREAT SPEC RACE – US EDITION
Andrew Velleca, LEED AP BD+C, Mechanical Engineer from Burns & McDonnell, KS built a Recreational Facility, complete with combined 3D BIM families, in two minutes and fourteen seconds (00:02:14:20 min). With 100% accuracy, Mr. Velleca earned the title of Grand Prize Winner of the US Edition also won the South Central US Region!

THE GREAT SPEC RACE – CANADIAN EDITION
Ikbal Vahid, B. Eng., LEED AP; Plumbing and Drainage Fire Protection Manager with Toronto-based Crossey Engineering built a security facility, complete with combined 3D BIM families, in 54 seconds (00:00:54:46 min). With 100% accuracy, Mr. Vahid who earned the title of Grand Prize Winner of the Canadian Edition also won the Central Canada Region!

THE GREAT SPEC RACE – ASPE EDITION
In addition to The Great Spec Race US and Canadian Edition, ATS challenged the Design Community attending the 2012 ASPE Convention to accurately build and submit Test Projects LIVE at the ATS booth (#133). The contest period began 11:30am EST, October 29, 2012 and ended 3pm EST October 30, 2012.
